Aaron Rodgers‘ Achilles injury in week 1 caused a lot of buzz in the football world. The 39-year-old quarterback was brought in by the New York Jets in this offseason to propel them to the playoffs. However, that plan went sideways after his injury and since then Rodgers has been nursing his injury. The buzz though, just keeps on increasing as Rodgers’ recovery is going extremely well.
In his interview with Pat McAfee on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers confirmed that his recovery was ‘ahead of schedule’ and that he is planning on making a comeback by the end of the regular season. He was with the team during their game against the Philadelphia Eagles and was seen walking around without any crutches. That image has left a lot of people in shock. One of them was ESPN analyst Mike Greenberg, who couldn’t believe that Rodgers was roaming around without any help just weeks after suffering the brutal injury.
Greenberg said on ESPN’s Get Up Show.
It was a sign. It was a sign people. No crutches, Aaron's coming back.Mike Greenberg on Get Up Show
He added:
I'm telling you right now, Aaron, he's not human. He's coming back.
The analyst was clearly excited to see Rodgers walking around without any support. However, his fellow panelists, Marcus Spears and Domonique Foxworth were not buying into Greenberg’s hype. It made for some great television though.
The Jets, without Rodgers, are 3-3 through six games. They had a bye in week 7 and will play the New York Giants in week this Sunday. Backup QB Zach Wilson has taken over from Rodgers and, after a poor start, has improved his play in recent games. The Jets will hope to get into the playoffs this season and if that happens, Rodgers might suit up for the New York-based team.
Aaron Rodgers said he would love to come back this season
Aaron Rodgers’ recovery from his Achilles injury has left a lot of people in shock. He has been using some out-of-the-box methods to get back to the field by the end of this season. In a recent appearance on ManningCast, Rodgers said that he would love to come back this season.
Rodgers said on the show:
Listen, I’d love to come back this season.
He then added:
I think for me you always have to set a goal, otherwise you go kind of crazy. And so the goal is to definitely come back. But there’s a lot of factors that go into that. But I’ve got to get to the point where I can protect myself and do what I do.
Rodgers ended his 18-year association with his former team, the Green Bay Packers earlier this offseason. He signed a multi-year contract with the Jets and was expected to lead a young and hungry Jets team to the playoffs. They still have a chance to do so, and if they achieve that, watch out for Mr. Aaron Rodgers.
