The Dallas Cowboysโ Wild Card loss to the Green Bay Packers was one of the most shocking results in recent NFL history. The Mike McCarthy-led side was the clear favorites to win the game against the talented but young Packers team with a first-year starting QB. However, the Packers came out with a lot of intensity and destroyed the Cowboys 48-32.
It was an embarrassing loss for the team that was one of the Super Bowl favorites coming into the season. The Cowboys won their division and were expected to carry their form in the playoffs. As expected, the Cowboys received a lot of criticism for the way they went out in the first round.

McCarthyโs place as the teamโs head coach was questioned, but Jerry Jones decided to stick with his head coach for yet another season. The former Super Bowl-winning HC had a clear message for the Dallas fans after the tough loss.
McCarthy said in his post-season presser:
My message would be this. We have established a championship program... We know how to win, we know how to train and win... But we have not crossed the threshold, winning playoff games... I know how to win and we will get over that threshold.Mike McCarthy said
McCarthy took over the offensive play-calling duties this season and led the Cowboys to a 12-5 record. However, they faltered in the playoffs again in a disappointing fashion. It will be an interesting offseason in Dallas.
Mike McCarthy opens up about his 3-hour long meeting with Jerry Jones after the Packersโ loss
The Dallas Cowboysโ season ended last Sunday against the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round. It was another playoff loss for Mike McCarthy who was under the hotseat coming into the game. After the loss, a lot of pundits thought that Jerry Jones and the Cowboys would move on from their head coach. However, that did not happen as the billionaire owner decided to bring McCarthy back for another season.

The decision came after both the parties had a three-hour-long meeting after the loss. McCarthy talked about the meeting on Thursday.
McCarthy said:
It was a long meeting, I think we went probably a little past three hours, we talked about a number of topics, the first topic was obviously the disappointment of the ending of the season. One team played to their standard and the other didnโt. Unfortunately, we didnโt. So Iโm very disappointed in our performance, just not playing to our standard.Mike McCarthy added
The Cowboys had a good regular season, but postseason success still eluded them. They will hope to have a much better output next season, especially with McCarthy back as the head coach.
