FSU HC Mike Norvell fights back emotions while breaking down Jordan Travis’ heartbreaking injury

Despite taking down North Alabama at 45-13, Florida State seemed to have their minds elsewhere. With this game, the team has advanced to 11-0 and secured a title of undefeated home record this season. However, they couldn’t cheer with the brightest smiles as the senior quarterback Jordan Travis got severely injured in the opening quarter.

Right before the end of the opening quarter, Travis suffered a serious leg injury as he was sprinting for a first down. His injury was so serious that he had to be carted off the field and rushed to the hospital.

While taking on that matter, Florida State’s HC Mike Norvell was barely holding on to his emotions, during the post-game press conference. Although he didn’t give any official updates on Travis’ injury, he highlighted the emotional struggle that the whole team is going through right now, with their quarterback falling down on Senior Night.

Norvell said when asked about Travis’ injury:

We knew this was Jordan Travis’ last game at Doak Campbell Stadium. I wanted to see him have a special game. Anytime somebody gets hurt, it’s painful to see, it’s painful to have to go through. You just want so bad for that kid because he does everything right. I can’t say that I did block it out.

Moreover, Norvell acknowledged the stress that comes with not knowing the gravity of his injury. For now, they are remaining hopeful. Despite the emotional stress, the head coach didn’t forget to praise his team where it was needed.

How did Jordan Travis sustain the leg injury?

Counted among the top quarterbacks of college football, Travis is all set to appear in next year’s NFL draft and is likely to be in demand. However, before he could add more points to his record, he sustained a severe injury during the game against the Alabama Lions.

With a few minutes remaining in the first quarter, the Seminoles led by Travis were trailing by 13 points. As the quarterback attempted to convert a first down, he was tackled by Alabama’s defenders and he ended up severely injured.

He immediately fell down, and medical personnel rushed to the ground to check on him as he was holding his knee and was very much in pain. A few moments later, he was carted off the field and taken to an ambulance.
