Since Caleb Williams announced he wouldn’t be taking part in the Holiday Bowl to prepare for the NFL Draft, reports claim that head coach Lincoln Riley may dive into the transfer portal to look for a suitable replacement for the 2024 season.

However, Williams backs up Miller Moss made a massive case for himself, stepping up and bagging a 42-28 victory over the No. 15 Lousiville Cardinals.

It was a great opportunity to play in front of a massive audience of 35,317 at PETCO Park, including former USC quarterbacks Matt Leinart and Cody Kessler. Moss did not look out of place one bit. He quickly shook off the nerves and tied the Holiday Bowl record for most touchdowns (4) thrown at halftime.

The USC Trojans onslaught did not end there. Moss was not letting his foot off the gas, and by the 5th TD, he was toying with the Cardinals, much to the delight of Williams, who was sitting in the stands. The sophomore took sole possession of the Holiday Bowl record when he connected with Ja’Kobi Lane for their second touchdown together.

Moss wrapped up the game by throwing a 44-yard dart to Duce Robinson at the 10-minute mark of the fourth quarter. The Cardinals tried to mount a comeback, but the Trojans defense held on. He finished the night with 23/37 for 372 yards and six touchdowns with one interception.

As per reports, Caleb Williams most likely played his last game for the Trojans. Despite his regrets over never fighting for the college football championship, the 22-year-old will fetch a top-three draft pick next year.

With Miller Moss’s statement performance, Riley now has a decision to make. He can either continue in his pursuit of recruiting a new quarterback, which will be very hard. Or he can give Moss his chance to shine in 2024.
