The 2023 NFL Draft has finished, and the teams are taking shape for the upcoming season. Most teams have acquired their preferred choice of players. The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys did not waste any time addressing their weak spots. But Mina Kimes believes that the Cowboys have a better overall squad this year than the Eagles—at least their defense does.

The gap is not that big,” said Mina Kimes while appearing on ESPN. “While the Eagles’ offense is better, I would argue that the Dallas Cowboys defense is better than Philadelphia’s.” She made everyone remember that the Cowboys last season “finished second in DVOA and third in EPA per play,” which was better than the Eagles.

It is possible the Cowboys could repeat their 1990s feat of winning 12 games in consecutive seasons. They have already had two great NFC East seasons, but they need to go further than that. Last season, they were looking strong until the San Francisco 49ers crashed their party in the playoffs.

Dak Prescott, their ace quarterback, missed four games due to an injury. But he did manage to throw for 2860 yards, 23 touchdowns, and unfortunate 15 interceptions. A fully fit Prescott can dominate the game for the Cowboys.

Mina Kimes believes the same, even though she keeps the Eagles ahead in her fanatical tea. But according to her, the Cowboys have benefited from the draft.

While Mina Kimes made some sound arguments as to why the Cowboys have a better defense than the Eagles fans were quick to write her off.

If you go by the papers, then the Eagles do look like one of the most complete squads in the NFL. But they have lost a lot of players; in fact, eight regulars left in the offseason. Most notably, they lost Pro Bowl defensive tackle Javon Hargrave to the 49ers. Meanwhile, they appointed a new offensive coordinator, Brian Johnson.

Eagles GM Howie Roseman is a shrewd recruiter. They quickly drafted Georgia defensive tackle, Jalen Carter. Moreover, they replaced Isaac Seumalo, who joined the Pittsburgh Steelers, with Cam Jurgens at right guard.

With MVP quarterback Jalen Hurts‘ contract situation wrapping up quickly, the Eagles pose an even greater threat to the other NFC East franchises. Besides, they bagged Kelee Ringo as their fourth-round 105th pick. The cornerback who starred for the Georgia Bulldogs, with whom he has two CFP National Championship rings, and former first-round free agent running back Rashaad Penny and D’Andre Swift were picked up as well.

The Cowboys themselves did not shy away from making moves in the Draft. Wide receiver Brandin Cooks and cornerback Stephon Gilmore joined, along with Michigan defensive tackle Mazi Smith. Both Cooks and Gilmore are already making waves in the Cowboys dugout. In the third round, they picked up Texas LinebackerDeMarvion Overshown. San Jose State defensive end Junior Fehoko came in the fifth round. However, the most notable signing, Kansas State running back Deuce Vaughn, was made in the sixth round.

It will be an interesting season for the Cowboys, with depth and quality in almost every position. The Eagles may have outscored the Cowboys last year by 14-3, but this time the Dallas outfit looks more balanced, and with Dak Prescott fit, it will be a game-changer. Mina Kimes could be on to something.
