“I left and won a Super Bowl,” Former NFL lineman Mitchell Schwartz lashes out at Browns fans for their “bitter” comments
Mitchell Schwartz, an offensive lineman with the Kansas City Chiefs, announced his retirement in July. Although he is retired, he still receives criticism from NFL fans. The former Chiefs lineman was offended by a now-deleted comment from a Cleveland Browns fan. Without hesitation, Schwartz made the decision to respond to the fan’s implication that the seasoned lineman was “bitter.”
“It’s amazing Browns fans think I’m bitter. I left and won a freaking Super Bowl. Won my division each year. Was All-Pro 4 times. CLE went 1-31 the two years after I left, then two more sub .500 years. If anything I have gratitude CLE wasn’t serious about keeping me. Thanks, Sashi!,” wrote Mitchell Schwartz on his official Twitter account in response to another tweet.
Not all Browns supporters agreed with the initial message. One Browns supporter tweeted Schwartz to express agreement with the former Chiefs lineman’s statements. 2012 marked the start of Mitchell Schwartz’s tenure with the Browns. He played with Cleveland for four seasons, where he established himself as the offensive line’s regular starter.
Mitchell Schwartz had a somewhat rewarding career in the NFL
Schwartz left the team for the Chiefs after the 2015 campaign. He played a significant role in the team’s Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers in February 2020. However, things didn’t exactly come to a happy conclusion. The 2020 season was plagued by injuries for the Chief’s offensive tackle, who was later released. He stopped playing in the NFL in 2021, and he then retired.
In his statement on his retirement, Schwartz did not mention the Cleveland Browns. He did, however, make a point of thanking the Chiefs and their supporters. “My final thanks are for Kansas City and all the Chiefs supporters. Wearing a red jersey is just one aspect of what it means to be a Chief. It has been an honor to stand up for you both on and off the field, he continued.
The fans of the browns were not super amused with this stunt that Schwartz pulled and their replies and reactions to the tweets said it all. NFL fanbases can go to any length if their team is put into question. Some fans went as far as to call it a “Low move” on Schwartz’s part. Not all fans were furious with him and some even tweeted in his favour.
