Myles Garrett wasn’t too impressed with officiating in the Jacksonville Jaguars game. He probably was hinting at the last Jaguars touchdown drive, which almost got the ‘Duvvval’ back into the tie.

Cleveland Browns linebacker Anthony Walker was called back for a defensive pass interference. It irked the Browns bench, as they could not wrap their heads around the call.

Garrett was especially unhappy because of the string of yellows that his defense had to digest throughout the game. Even though they were leading by 10 points, there were still 3 minutes left on the clock, and the ball was with the Jaguars.

Dough Pederson‘s side started to put pressure on Cleveland. But Myles Garrett carved out a timely sack on quarterback Trevor Lawrence. However, he had a hand-in-the-face moment when it was chalked off by the officials.

I have a lot of respect for those guys, but we get scrutinized for the plays we don’t make, and someone has to hold them accountable for the calls they don’t make. I’m not trying to offend anybody. I just want them to do their job to the best of their ability.

Myles Garrett wants the officials to go through the same scrutiny as the players

The call on Garrett was not an isolated incident. Ruling similar to that has been a mainstay in the league for the past few years. Several current and former players, mainly those who played in defense, have come out and said that the league is not giving the defenders the room to make a tackle.

Retired all-pro tackle JJ Watt did not mince his words while criticizing the amount of soft penalties the refs are giving away, and not only that, he called out the league for imposing too many fines on players.

They are stealing money.

Myles Garrett went one step further and demanded that the officials be under the same amount of scrutiny as the players go through.

They need to be under the same microscope as we are every single play.

Garrett needs to be wary of what he says in the media unless he wants to be penalized for speaking against the officials. As of now, there hasn’t been any comment on his comments, so he can rest a bit easier.

The Browns won the game 31-27 over the Jags to go level on their win record (8-5) with the Florida franchise. Recently acquired veteran quarterback Joe Flacco threw for 311 yards and three touchdowns and was signed permanently to the active roster. Garrett, on the other hand, failed to add another sack to his name and is staying put at 13 for the season.
