The Kansas City Chiefs, led by their franchise QB Patrick Mahomes won the Super Bowl ring by defeating the Philadelphia Eagles in the title game earlier this year. However, before they could even reach that game, their whole campaign could’ve ended badly due to an injury their star QB Mahomes suffered during the divisional round playoff game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
During the division game against the Jaguars, Mahomes suffered an ankle injury. As soon as it happened, the entire Chiefs fanbase knew their season could end on that game itself. But he was able to return to the game and led the Chiefs to victory. And now, the fans get to see the behind the scene clips from the entire incident.
In the new documentary series Quarterback, which premiered on Netflix on Wednesday, fans got to see clips from the divisional round game as it happened. Mahomes, who suffered an injury, was eager to get back on the field, but the Chiefs’ medical staff wanted him to get an x-ray before he could return to the game. The Chiefs QB was distraught, seemingly due to the thoughts of missing the game if the X-rays came back positive.
Mahomes insisted that he would take the scan at half-time, but the offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy insisted the Chiefs QB get his leg scanned immediately. A frustrated Mahomes slammed his jacket and yelled, “F**k god damn it!” as he ran through the tunnel to get an x-ray.
Mahomes said in the episode that even though he was positive that he had just suffered an ankle sprain, the Chiefs QB couldn’t even breathe in the medical room until the doctor came back and said that the x-rays came back negative. The All-Pro QB then sprinted out of the doctor’s room to get back on the field with his team.
