Former New Orleans Saints legendary quarterback, Drew Brees brought up plenty of speculation with a single tweet. The 43-year old, who had called time on his esteemed 20-year long NFL career hinted at a possible return to the football pitch this season.

He clearly stated that nothing has been finalised as of yet after it emerged that his 1-year stint with NBC might come to an end. The possibility of him returning to the pitch cannot be ruled out as of now, and reporters seized on this opportunity to question New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen.

Drew Brees tweeted, “Despite speculation from media about my future this fall, I’m currently undecided. I may work for NBC, I may play football again, I may focus on business and philanthropy, I may train for the pickleball tour, senior golf tour, coach my kids or all of the above. I’ll let you know.”

Allen was asked whether the Saints would make a move for the quarterback if he decided to come out of retirement. However, Dennis Allen refused to believe that the legendary quarterback would actually return to football.

The Saints’ head coach also did not want to be drawn into making any speculative comments regarding Drew Brees. He retired after the 2020 season while the Saints recently re-signed Jameis Winston to a two-year deal this offseason with veteran Andy Dalton as the backup.

“I think it was a comment made in jest, and we certainly haven’t had any conversations in that regard,” Allen said. “I don’t really want to live in those hypothetical worlds right now. We’ll see where it all goes, but he caused a lot of interest, that’s for sure.”
