Green Bay Packers legendary quarterback Brett Favre had his name dragged through the mud when he was linked to the Mississippi state’s welfare fund scam. The public and the state officials said time and again that Brett Favre had knowledge that the funds that were getting sent his way were meant for public use. However, back in 2021, Favre refuted the claim and said that he was in no way aware that the money was actually meant for public welfare.

After Brett Favre was accused of the scam, he immediately returned the $500k in May 2020 and the $600k balance in October 2021. The Mississippi auditor’s office is putting pressure on the former signal-caller to pay the rest $228k interest and the Mississippi Department of Human Resources is now asking him to pay an additional $5 million.

These additional funds are asked by the state’s office as Favre allocated these funds to construct a volleyball field for the University of Southern Mississippi where he spent his college career. Favre’s welfare scam has gained a lot of media attention and the quarterback has continued to refute the claims that he knew where the funds were coming from. The recent development in the case has changed the outcome of the case completely and looks like Favre’s previous statement was nothing but lies!

Shad White, the auditor for the state of Mississippi, has come forward on Twitter and released a series of text messages that prove Brett Favre knew about the fund’s origin and that he lied on record. These messages are a part of the state’s recent findings that have been included in the lawsuit that read: “Favre asked, ‘Would this solve the brick and mortar issue?’… Again, Favre knew that grant funds could not be used for brick and mortar construction, but he sought to secretly obtain those funds for that purpose anyway.

“He asked, ‘Will the public perception be that I became a spokesperson for various state funded shelters, schools, homes, etc…. and was compensated with state money? Or can we keep this confidential?'” These messages have shown a bright light on the case and it looks like Brett Favre has been caught red-handed. The 3x NFL MVP filed a defamation lawsuit against the same man who has now come forward with the new developments in the case, which clearly proves Favre knew that the money coming his way was from the public fund he still took it.

Fans were boiling with rage upon hearing the new developments and immediately want the former Packers QB to be indicted for his alleged crime. Here’s how they reacted on Twitter.

Brett Favre has now completely destroyed his legacy that was celebrated by everyone in the league. Favre meant something to young players who had a dream of making it to the NFL and now the league looks like nothing more than a place filled with people who will end up in gen pop.
