“I see 100 percent greatness,” New York Jets GM Joe Douglas reserves special praise for Zach Wilson

The New York Jets drafted in Zach Wilson as their second overall pick and the quarterback performed decently well in his rookie season in the NFL. The 21-year old quarterback played the majority of the matches as the starting quarterback for the franchise, but did not make heads turn massively with his outings.
Despite that being the case, he is still hailed as one for the future by Jets general manager Joe Douglas. During an appearance on the Michael Kay Show, Joe Douglas gave in his vote of confidence towards his young quarterback as they prepare him to continue in the role in 2022.
Zach Wilson will continue to serve as the first choice quarterback for the New York Jets
“I 100 percent see greatness,” Douglas said on The Michael Kay Show on Friday. “I see a young quarterback that really went through the ringer to start the year, and what was most encouraging about Zach was when he came back, he maybe had one turnover over the last six games. He was taking care of the football. He was playing within the scheme.”
“You really saw him take a step within the season after going through a lot of adversity early, getting injured, coming back and not having our top two receivers in Corey [Davis] and Elijah.
“Playing with a lot of backups at the skill position but still executing the offense at a high level. And so, seeing that, seeing his resiliency and his perseverance through that and keeping it all together, it gives you a lot of hope.”
Zach Wilson started 13 games for the Jets and recorded 55.6 percent of his passes for 2,334 yards, nine passing touchdowns, four rushing touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Wilson will hope for a much improved season on the pitch, and the franchise are doing everything possible to bring in better players from the 2022 NFL draft to make his life easier.
