Nick Bosa was all smiles after the 49ers beat the Dolphins which he had played an important part in. But most importantly, the reason behind his smiles was the feeling he got when he proved his HC Kyle Shanahan wrong.

Shanahan recently criticized Bosa for his awful performance and threw ‘shade’ on the 49ers’ DE. The 49ers have one of the strongest defenses in the league and Bosa was the NFC November’s Defensive player of the month. Therefore the 25-year-old didn’t understand the reason behind his criticism.

“Yeah, he threw a little shade at me and the D-line, so we kind of talked in our meeting,” Bosa said after the game. “We don’t like being called out like that. It’s our head coach, so he obviously has the right and he watches the tape more than anybody, and he expects the most out of us. So, I’m glad we were able to make an impact.”

However, Bosa was a different beast against the Dolphins where he registered 3 sacks of Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa, four hits, two tackles, and a forced fumble. His performance in the Dolphins game was one of the best seen by a defensive player in this season of the NFL.

Nick Bosa led the D-line to restrict the Dolphins to just running the ball eight times for 33 yards and managed four takeaways. Bosa was ecstatic after the game and had some interesting words for his coach who has criticized him before.

“It’s like, ‘Don’t talk s–t about me,’” Bosa said with a slight grin. “Light the fire.” The 49ers’ DE is the league’s leader in total sacks making him the prime candidate for defensive player of the year if the 49ers go far in the playoffs this season.

Kyle Shanahan was proud of his D-line and has complete confidence in them. The 49ers HC thought that throwing Bosa in the shade will work as a challenge for him and the DE will perform even better which is exactly what happened.

“I kind of messed with the D-line and Bosa last night, telling them that I thought the linebackers outperformed them last week,” Shanahan said. “I thought they would smile at it, but he didn’t smile at all. And right after that last sack where Dre scooped and scored, he came right up to me.”

The 49ers are looking like prime candidates for the NFC title and can even challenge for the Super Bowl if their 3rd choice rookie QB performs well as both Jimmy G and Trey Lance are out due to an injury. The 49ers will face the Bucs in their next game hoping to win against a formidable opponent.
