And now, just a few days after the CFP national championship game, the Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban has announced his retirement in a shocking move.
On Wednesday, the 72-year-old well-renowned head coach Nick Saban released a statement announcing his retirement from college football.

Saban further continued that his coaching style was not only about winning but also about doing it in the right way. His goal was to create a better future for his players.

Nick Saban just completed his 17th season as the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide. His team lost to the No.1 ranked Wolverines in the Rose Bowl. In his 17-year-long tenure with Bama, he won 201 games and turned the school into a powerhouse.
Saban spent 28 years as a college head coach at multiple schools including Toledo, Michigan State, LSU, and Alabama. In total, he won 7 national championships and multiple conference titles in his career. He also spent a couple of years in the NFL as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins.

Saban reportedly wanted to inform his player himself before it became public. So, he held a meeting at 5.00 p.m. and spoke to his players and staff for about 15 minutes according to ESPN’s Chris Low.
In the meeting, Nick Saban allegedly told his players that it was the right time for him to retire since he didn’t like the direction college football is headed with NIL deals. Nonetheless, with this shocking news, Bama would now work to replace him with a new, suitable head coach.
