The Philadelphia Eagles started the season on fire, winning 10 of their first 11 games. However, they lost five of their next six games to end the regular season with a record of 11-6. The second half of the season for Nick Sirianni and his men was a disastrous one as they failed to replicate their early season success.

After spending most of the first half of the season as the NFC’s number one seed, the Eagles ended up losing that spot and the division title. They did qualify for the playoffs, but had a horrible game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round. The Eagles came out flat against the Bucs and were blown away by Baker Mayfield and company, 32-9.

The defeat invited a lot of criticism from the media world and fans alike. HC Nick Sirianni was already dealing with the team’s poor post-week 12 performance and that pressure compounded after the loss to the Buccaneers.

There were calls being made to fire Sirianni after the dismal end to the season. However, according to ESPN analyst Adam Schefter, the former Indianapolis Colts’ OC is expected to be back as the Eagles’ HC for the upcoming season.

The head coaching cycle for next season is one of the most interesting ones in recent years, with a lot of great head coaches looking for jobs. Philadelphia would have been a great destination for a lot of these coaches, but the Eagles seem to have made their choice going forward.
