After two underwhelming seasons with the Denver Broncos, Russell Wilson joined the Pittsburgh Steelers, who until recently have majorly suffered due to the inability of their quarterbacks. Wilson is expected to play as the starting quarterback for the team in the coming season.
However, analysts have a divided opinion regarding the possibility of Wilson getting success in the Steelers squad. Nick Wright, who has been a known critic of Wilson, believes that the quarterback will not be able to keep his job till the end of the season. He said that Justin Fields, the former Chicago Bears quarterback would replace him in the second half of the league.
Wright said, on First Things First, taking a dig at the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback:
So I do think it will be Russell Wilson in week one but in confidence, I believe that if it is Russell Wilson in week one then Justin in week 18. I do not think Russell Wilson will keep this job but I think Wilson will start this job surely. I am much more pessimistic about Russ's ability in any offense like the Steelers offense. I do not that he will keep the job but he will start it.Nick Wright said
In the next few minutes, Wright compared the Russell Wilson with Justin Fields. He noted that despite being senior to Fields, Wilson does not boast better performance than him. They both amounted to the same number of sacks. In addition, both quarterbacks had the same touchdown and turnover records. Wilson, however, has more wins and a passing completion rate.
Nick Wright called out Russell Wilson for being ‘selfish’
After Russell Wilson left the Denver Broncos, Nick Wright took aim at him for his inability to provide the drive and impetus to his former team. He claimed Wilson was awful in the Broncos colors, adding that he had a ‘selfish style.’
Wright said in a recent episode of First Things First:
Russ was playing a selfish style of quarterback where he was not making the best plays instead he was protecting that touchdown-interception ratio so folks would say things like, ‘Well last year he wasn't that bad, you know he only had one less touchdown and Patrick Mahomes.'Nick Wright said
During his tenure with the Broncos, Wilson had some major issues with the head coach. In the new team, he would be expecting a better environment for him to play.
