Nick Wright‘s bold predictions about how the Kansas City Chiefs season would pan out took a massive hit on Thursday night. The football analyst claimed the Chiefs would continue to dominate the NFL because players such as Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce remain on the team.
Considering they are the defending Super Bowl champions, it’s a safe bet to bank on another scintillating year. However, Nick Wright went a little further this time. In one of the latest segments of Fox Sports 1’s First Things First, he declared that the Kansas City Chiefs would have an undefeated season and add another championship ring.
Wright boasted about his prediction to fellow hosts Chris Broussard and Kevin Wildes. Wright claimed to have full belief in his team to go 20-0. He said,” I have it on my arm as of this week. Never a doubt, the same thing there.” Wright has a history of overhyping his favorite team and players.
He took his coat off, folded the sleeve of his left arm, and unveiled a tattoo: “Never a Doubt,” pointing at the banner behind him: “Never a Doubt: Chiefs Go 20-0.” Unfortunately for him, they faltered at the first hurdle yesterday. The Detroit Lions defeated Andy Reid’s side 20-21 in the opening prime-time match.

The Lions were nowhere near the favorites to beat the Chiefs. But the absence of Travis Kelce, Chris Jones, and bad performances from a few players turned the tie in Dan Campbell‘s favor. Viewers who tuned in to watch Nick Wright’s proclamation took to social media and trolled him. They wrote that Wright was ‘never right.’ Check out some of the reactions:
Going through an entire season without losing a single game remains a tough task. Only the legendary Miami Dolphins achieved this feat back in 1972. Tom Brady and the Patriots were close to accomplishing the same in 2007. However, they failed in the Super Bowl. The Kansas City Chiefs may have failed to make Nick Wright’s words come true, but they could still win 16 more games. Their next opponent will be the Jacksonville Jaguars on September 17.
