Nick Wright makes a case for CJ Stroud’s Texans to challenge the Chiefs next season

The Kansas City Chiefs are presently looking invincible as the team won their second consecutive Super Bowl ring. The team boldly declared that they would go for their third consecutive title and debates are doing rounds. Who would be stopping them?

The Chiefs have won four out of their five AFC Championships and it can be said that in AFC; they have created a successful dominance over other teams.

In this context, Nick Wright has a special opinion. The analyst, known for his unfiltered love towards the Chiefs, claimed that no one can beat the Chiefs in the AFC. But if he had to pick a side, then it would be the Houston Texans.

His take differed from multiple analysts who placed their bet on Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals for beating the Chiefs in the AFC. Despite acknowledging the effort of the Bengals, Wright believed that the Texans can be the best team to beat the Chiefs. 

I don't think it is the Bengals. It is a team that can follow their blueprint. Which is consistancy at the coaching coordinators back. Superstar quarterback, drafted very well and can overspend in the offseason because they got the quarterback chep. That is the Houston Texans.
Wright via the First Things First

Wright placed a clear-cut argument. He relied on three things: a good quarterback, coaching brilliance, and last but not least, spending in the offseason. The Texans fall into all three. They have a brilliant quarterback called C.J. Stroud. Last season, DeMeco Ryans improvised the coaching department. And since they have a quarterback, they can now go for other good signings for the coming season.

The analyst also compared the Houston Texans team with Joe Burrow’s Cincinnati Bengals. He stated that Burrow’s Bengals team also had a similar growth when they first bought Burrow and after the success of the QB, they went for the other players like Tee Higgins and Ja Marr Chase. Both provided results for their team.

The 2023-24 season came as a blessing for the Houston-based team. They managed to make it to the playoffs after four years.

The magic happened due to the understanding between the coach and the quarterback duo. C.J. Stroud registered a heck of a performance. His regular season as well as postseason performances earned him a place among the hearts of the fans as well as among the analysts. He was awarded the ‘Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.’

After the brilliant first season, Stroud has now developed tremendous confidence in him. In an interview, he said he considered himself among the top five quarterbacks in the league. His confidence would be the key for the Texans in the coming seasons.

As the Texans already achieved a place in the playoffs already their eyes will be on the championship in the next season. The Texans are one of the unfortunate teams who haven’t won the Super Bowl.
