The NFL 2023 season is about to start. The defending champions Kansas City Chiefs will be facing the Detroit Lions. A lot of discussions are circling around the match as the Chiefs may not have two of their star players.

The Chiefs, under the leadership of the QB Patrick Mahomes, may have to play without the tight end Travis Kelce as the superstar suffered a major injury recently. The team management is doubtful about the future of the player in week one.

The uncertainty regarding the player has triggered some questions about the Chiefs’ efforts to bet the Lions. The latter is fueled with a good offensive option and that can cause some problems for the Chiefs. However, famous analyst Nick Wright does not pose the same opinion. Instead, he believes that the Chiefs will easily defeat the Lions and will score 30+ against them. He believes in the supremacy of Patrick Mahomes and he cited that Mahomes will have a good game.

With or without Travis Kelce, the Chiefs are going to hang 30+ on the Lions. The question is will it be 40+,” Wright said. The tight end has an important role in the team’s gameplay. Without him, the team may have to compromise on their attacking intent. Coach Andy Reid said that the player hyperextended his knee during the Chief’s practice session and the management does not know when is going to come back.

Ahead of the first game, the Chiefs are having some major problems. They will not only miss  Travis Kelce but also Chris Jones who is reportedly not showing up to the team’s practice. He reportedly wants a long-term contract which the team is not willing to offer.

However, Jason Kelce, his brother, is hopeful that Travis will return to the field very soon. In a recent interview, he said, “Trav, this was out on the field, I know he’s got some swelling going on, but it sounds like as long as they can that down, you know, he’s gonna have a chance to go. The ligaments and everything are intact structurally from what we know right now, and his knee is fine.”

In addition to this, speculations are high that he might get traded to the Dallas Cowboys. He did not play a single preseason game and is also missing out on training sessions. Coach Andy Reid and Mahomes are frustrated about the situation.
