Aaron Rodgers has emerged back from his four days darkness retreat. He went to clear his mind to make a decision regarding his future in the league. Now that he is back, everyone is focused on one thing and one thing only – Is Rodgers going back to the Packers or is he going someplace else?

Multiple reports suggest that the 4x NFL MVP will stay back with the Packers, the only place he has called home in his 18-year career in the league. After the Packers failed to reach the playoffs, there were rumors about Green Bay trading him exclusively to the AFC. But now it looks like they are willing to bet on him one more time.

Still, there are many teams who would love to have a quarterback with the caliber of Rodgers even if it was just for one year because he is ‘that guy’ who can lead the franchise to the Super Bowl. The Jets and Raiders remain in contention as landing spots for the veteran signal-caller. Rodgers is expected to chat with the Packers’ front office in the coming days to finalize a decision about his future.

Can Aaron Rodgers reach the Super Bowl in 2023?

Aaron Rodgers has been the best quarterback in the league since he started playing for the Packers. He had back-to-back MVP seasons in 2020 and 2021, so there is zero doubt about his ability to be a stalwart leader. This being said, TV personality and First Things First host Nick Wright discussed the possibility of the New England Patriots trading for Rodgers and it made a lot of sense for the once-AFC powerhouse.

Wright said that there aren’t a lot of quarterbacks above 40 years who have had productive seasons in the NFL, except Tom Brady, of course. The Packers have already invested in Jordan Love and given how expensive Aaron Rodgers is (he will receive a $60 million salary for the 2023 season), Wright is of the opinion that Green Bay should trade him.

With rumors about Rodgers’s possibly being traded, the names of many teams have been suggested as a potential landing spot for the Super Bowl XLV champion, but Nick Wright is confounded as to why the New England Patriots aren’t in contention. “[Bill] Belichick is the older coach in the NFL, they are having down years, they have the cap space, they have the excellent defense, they now have a real offensive coordinator. What would Rodgers look like if he had that time of defensive support, that type of coach? Why would that team… even if that’s just for a year, rental type of thing, and then you give the reins back to Mac Jones. Why would they not be one of the leading candidates to call up Green Bay,” Wright added.

Wright believes that the Packers should turn the page and move on from Aaron Rodgers. Green Bay has had Rodgers for over 18 years now and all they have to show is one Super Bowl win. Tom Brady has more Super Bowl losses than Rodgers has been to Super Bowl, which speaks a lot. So, maybe, and that’s a big maybe, that the Packers might be tempted to part ways with him. Let’s see what happens in the coming days.
