The Aaron Rodgers era in Green Bay has finally come to an end after 18 long years! He was drafted by the Packers 24th overall in the 2005 NFL draft and had been with the team ever since.
With Rodgers officially becoming a New York Jet, the league has been divided into two factions – one that believes the Jets will make it to the Super Bowl and the other who aren’t that confident in the 39-year-old’s ability.
First Things First co-host Nick Wright belongs to the latter group and issued a strong warning to the Jets on The Herd with Colin Cowherd. At first, Wright congratulated the Packers for winning the trade because he believes Aaron Rodgers is a declining player who isn’t interested in developing new and young players on the team and has one foot in the retirement door.
Wright then added that if Aaron Rodgers wants to keep playing after the 2023 season, then he has a lot to live up to given what Tom Brady and LeBron James did in the NFL and NBA at their ages. He said, “What Tom Brady did to our perception of what a 40-year-old quart is is similar to what… You Know who’s gonna pay a big penalty for what we are seeing from LeBron James. All of the next generation of stars when they get older.”
“Brady and LeBron are not the standard, they are the outlier. So all of NFL history tells us the Jets will be very lucky to get one outstanding season from a 40-year-old quarterback. So, I just think it’s a gamble… It’s far from a sure thing.”

Aaron Rodgers pens an emotional note as he leaves Green Bay after 18 years

Aaron Rodgers has been a Packer for 18 years and there were a lot of good times and bad times as well. No matter how bad the situation was regarding his contract extension or whatever other reasons, once Rodgers stepped on the field, everything else just ceased to exist. The way he used to command the crowd into watching his every move, the way he threw a tight spiral down the ground and threw touchdowns with relative ease was a treat to watch.
Fans will surely miss his presence in Lambeau Field. Aaron Rodgers also loved the Packers with everything he had because this franchise believed in him and drafted him into the league. The 4x NFL MVP wrote a long and emotional goodbye on Instagram that had everyone crying their hearts out to see a legend leave.
“I’m not sure it’s possible to fully express the gratitude that I have to the Packers, our incredible fans, the state of Wisconsin, the thousands of players that I crossed paths with, the incredible men and women who work for the organization, and the amazing people who I got to meet along the way,” Rodgers wrote.
It’s sad to see Aaron Rodgers leave Green Bay but there’s also a lot of excitement to see him change the fortune of the Jets and lead them from their playoffs darkness retreat. Let’s see how the MVP quarterback fares in New York in 2023!
