Odell Beckham Jr. has already decided what his next decision will be. The veteran wide receiver wants to play for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Before the start of the 2023 season, Beckham signed a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens. Even though the Ravens reached the AFC Divisional round, the 31-year-old did not impact the field much. Following the end of his contract, Beckham is a free agent.
The former Giant is looking to relive the glory days one more time, along with a massive payday. Per the Daily Mail, he has expressed the desire to play for the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Despite turning 32 when the 2024 season starts, whichever team Beckham plays for, they usually do well. After leaving the Browns, he joined the Los Angeles Rams for one season and bagged his first Super Bowl ring. While in Baltimore, quarterback Lamar Jackson had the best season of his NFL career. Perhaps he could be the lucky charm that the Chiefs need to register the three-peat.
Travis Kelce had previously wanted to play alongside Odell Beckham Jr.
If Clark Hunt does give the green signal to sign the three-time pro bowler, he won’t have a problem fitting in at Arrowhead. All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce had previously revealed that he would love Odell Beckham Jr. to become a Chief.
Before joining the Ravens in 2023, Kelce expressed his wish to play alongside the LSU graduate on his ‘New Heights’ podcast. The Chiefs had a big opening after Tyreek Hill left for Miami the previous year.
It's the start of a move, right? You're freeing up cap space to be able to do something. I want them to come true. We got some dawgs in the receiver room right now, though that's the thing... I get it. Odell [Beckham Jr.], D-Hop [DeAndre Hopkins], top-tier guys.Kelce said
Unfortunately, the Chiefs didn’t have the budget to acquire either Beckham or DeAndre Hopkins, who became Titan following his exit from Houston. The Baltimore Banner wrote that the Ravens released Odell Beckham Jr. on Thursday before the 4 p.m. deadline, which stopped his $50 million lucrative deal from getting activated.
They had restructured Beckham’s $15 million deal in January. As a result, the four void years from his deal cease to exist. Therefore, the $11 million dead-cap money would not roll over to the team’s 2024 salary cap.
