Odell Beckham Jr. has been a free agent since he got injured in Super Bowl LVI. The star wide receiver is looking for a team to play for in the coming season. However, his high asking price of $20 million a year, reported by many sources, was the reason for him not getting a deal.
Beckham has reportedly lowered his compensation to attract teams his way, which looks like has worked in his favor. As per Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Baltimore Ravens have offered the former first-round pick an offer.
OBJ met with Ravens officials during the league’s annual meeting in Pheonix last week. The exact details of the contract offer by the Ravens are still unknown. Additionally, the Jets and maybe the Rams remain in contention to sign the Super Bowl champion. With multiple offers coming his way, Odell Beckham Jr. might finalize a destination soon enough.

Odell Beckham Jr. lowers his asking price
Odell Beckham Jr. has been inactive since his unfortunate landing in Super Bowl LVI that tore his anterior cruciate ligament. The wideout has been out since Feb 13, 2022. However, he did peaked the interest of the Dallas Cowboys who were struggling on the offense during the second half of the last season but the talks never materialized.
A few days back, OBJ tweeted out that “4 ain’t enough” which loosely translated to him asking for more money. A couple of days back, with no interest from any teams, Beckham lowered his asking price from $20 million to $15 million a year.
Undisputed co-host Shannon Sharpe is of the opinion that Odell Beckham Jr. wants teams to pay him for what he used to be back in the day. However, Shannon said that right now, after multiple injuries, “people value him and look at him like he looks at himself.”
Odell Beckham Jr. has played every game of the season only twice in his eight years stint in the NFL, which does beg the question of the output he will generate. Teams are hesitant to pursue him for this exact reason and believe that giving him a $20 million deal won’t be productive.
The Ravens are probably giving Lamar Jackson a reason to play on the franchise tag by bringing in OBJ. While nothing is clear yet, updates will roll out soon enough. The Jets also remain in the running because Aaron Rodgers wants a team that is ready to win a championship and who better than to sign a Super Bowl-winning wide receiver? Let’s see which one of these teams Beckham chooses to play for in the 2023 season.
