Fake it till you make it, and if you do not end up making it, then just flop and hope to get a flag thrown at your opponent. That is probably what was running through Odell Beckham Jr’s mind when he decided to pick a fight with Tennessee Titans Defensive End Jeffery Simmons.
The Baltimore Ravens eased past the Titans as they beat them 24-16 in a bizarre game that witnessed Justin Tucker scoring 6 points in the form of field goals.
Following the conversion of a play, just as defensive end Jeffery Simmons was getting back up on his feet, Odell Beckham Jr. decided to taunt him and from the looks of it, even touched his helmet with his knee. For what reason exactly? That is unknown, was OBJ fully hyped and took trash-talking a bit too far? That could be a possibility.
Jeffrey Simmons could have dealt a serious blow to Odell Beckham Jr
That type of disrespect would not sit well with any player in the NFL. Unsurprisingly, Jeffrey Simmons bounced back quickly and the man just lightly pushed Odell Beckham Jr. which sent the wideout back one step. To avoid further escalation and to hopefully, take advantage of this situation, Odell appeared to have overreacted to the shove by the defensive end.
OBJ just fell to the ground while lifting his hands in the air just as he was falling down. The wideout was smart enough to time his flop to the exact moment when the referee was right next to him. However, his flop was not Oscar-worthy and hence, the referee did not throw any flags on Simmons. To put matters into context, Jeffery Simmons weighs 305 pounds and is 6 feet 4 inches tall. Odell, on the other hand, is 200 pounds and 5 feet 11 inches tall. If he had really taken a hit from Simmons, he would definitely have felt it sting.
The Baltimore Ravens managed to hold off the Titans but it was not the best game for Lamar Jackson as he ended the match with just 1 touchdown. It was Justin Tucker who managed to keep nailing all field goals and helped the Ravens improve their total. It was another forgettable night for Odell as he managed to get 34 yards on 2 receptions. He has yet to score a touchdown this season.
