Odell Beckham Jr. is finally returning to the NFL this season after a year-long hiatus from the game. The 30-year-old wide receiver signed a one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens in one of the biggest moves of the offseason so far.
After signing the wide receiver, the Baltimore Ravens are however, yet to finalize who will be their starting quarterback for the upcoming season, with the uncertainty surrounding Lamar Jackson‘s contract and stance at the franchise. The Ravens have him non-exclusive franchise-tagged, enabling Jackson to sign for any other team provided that the Ravens are able to match that offer with the stipulation that the other team would have to send its next two first-round draft picks to the Ravens if they don’t match.
Odell Beckham Jr. has made his intentions loud and clear that he wants the quarterback to stay at the franchise and be the one throwing the passes to him next season. Speaking on his official presentation as a Ravens player, OBJ left the message for Lamar Jackson that most of their fans wanted.
Lamar Jackson’s future with the Ravens is up in the air but Odell Beckham Jr. wants him to stay
“Lamar, if you’re watching, I would love to get to work with you. The goal is to come here and have that possibility to play with him,” Beckham said. “I’m excited about that opportunity.”
OBJ was also quick to claim that the decision though did not lie with him, whether Jackson would continue at the franchise or not, but he vouched that the Ravens’ head coach and general manager share the same sentiments as him.
“My thoughts would be that he would be here. I know that these two [General Manager Eric DeCosta and Head Coach John Harbaugh] want him to be here. At the end of the day, that’s going to be up to them.”
Lamar Jackson requested to be traded away this NFL season, but OBJ’s arrival might have probably changed his mind. The duo has a great bond, and it showed immediately after Odell signed for the Ravens as they FaceTimed each other to share congratulatory messages.
