The Baltimore Ravens recently signed the Super Bowl-winning wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. on a one-year deal worth up to $18 million including $15 million in guarantees. Following his signing, the talented wide receiver faced legal issues after a woman claimed that OBJ assaulted her in a nightclub. The former LSU receiver has denied any wrongdoings in the incident.
This is not the first time the pass catcher has run into legal issues in his career. Back in 2020, when Joe Burrow led the LSU Tigers to a National Championship victory over the Trevor Lawrence-led Clemson Tigers, the LSU alumni Odell Beckham Jr. was involved in misconduct with law enforcement officers.
During the LSU post-Natty celebrations inside the locker room, Beckham Jr. slapped a guard on the backside. According to reports, the police officer in the locker room was ordering the LSU players to put out their cigars and threatening to arrest them if they did not. Nevertheless, OBJ’s action led to an arrest warrant from the New Orleans Police Department for a misdemeanor battery charge.
However, a few days later, the arrest warrant was recalled by the police department and no arrests were made regarding that incident. “The arrest warrant stemming from the postgame locker room celebration at the Superdome on January 13, 2020, has been recalled; there is no warrant outstanding for the arrest of Odell Beckham Jr.,” OBJ’s attorney said in the statement. “The security officer involved does not wish to pursue charges in this matter. This legal matter has been resolved.”
Ravens signed Odell Beckham Jr. at the behest of Lamar Jackson
The Ravens recently signed the 3-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to a massive one-year deal at the behest of their franchise QB Lamar Jackson. The 27-year-old QB reportedly told the Ravens to acquire both Beckham Jr. and the Arizona Cardinals star DeAndre Hopkins.
The Baltimore-based franchise has already acquired OBJ and they are still in play for the star wideout Hopkins. The Cardinals reportedly want a second-rounder for the Hopkins trade and the Ravens do have the draft capital for a trade.
During his 5-year stint with the Ravens so far, Lamar Jackson never had a true number 1 wide receiver. But now, the Ravens have added Beckham Jr. and are reportedly in pursuit of the 5-time Pro Bowl receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
Jackson has been a vital player for the Ravens franchise ever since he joined the team back in 2018. Losing him will be a disaster for the team and the Ravens would do everything in their power to avoid that situation.
