Odell Beckham Jr. narrows down on how he could’ve bagged a $200,000,000 contract if he would’ve been injury free amid general precedence of QBs getting fat cheques
Beckham Jr. contemplates that if he had remained injury free, he may had become the first $200 million receiver.

Football is a game of endurance, hard work, technique, and luck (although most won’t agree). Yes, luck does play a big factor during play. It’s a fine line that stretches between the realms of success and failure. If luck is on someone’s side, then anything is possible. They can even change the ‘what if he could’ to ‘yes, he did’. Star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. needs a little bit of fairy dust to put his career back on track.
The 30-year-old was one of the shining lights of the New York Giants‘ 2010 era. Unfortunately for him, he too is a mere mortal who succumbed to the worst fate any footballer wants to avoid, like the plague. Beckham has had a woeful time dealing with injuries. But what if he didn’t?
The reality would have been different if Beckham had managed to steer clear of injuries. If he had somehow pulled that off, then maybe the NFL could have had its first $200 million receiver.
“I would have definitely loved to have it,” he admitted. “I would have loved to have seen what would have happened in my career if I had never been hurt.” (H/T: Sports Yahoo)
OBJ is aware that good things take time and that good times are on the Baltimore horizon. “You slowly progress,” he told the reporters on Wednesday after practice. “It’s a different shape that you have to get into.” For Raven’s sake, let’s hope he does.
“I think he might have been the first $200 million deal [if] he had never gotten hurt,” Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson uttered the same to Cam Newton on their new podcast, “The Uno & Ocho Show.” The retired receiver understands what a playmaker like Beckham brings to the table.
Odell Beckham Jr. aims to strike like a Raven in Baltimore
Beckham announced himself in the NFL, leading it in yards per game with 108.8 in his rookie year. The LSU graduate even made it onto the cover of Madden 2016. However, like clockwork, the ‘curse’ of Madden engulfed Odell Beckham Jr., as it did with most of his predecessors. In 2017, the Pro Bowler could not seem to catch a break with recurrent injuries, which took a horrible turn in 2022. It felt like luck was not in his dictionary despite winning Super Bowl LVI with the Los Angeles Rams. That was the last time the NFL saw OBJ on the field.
Beckham signed a one-year, $15 million guaranteed deal with the Baltimore Ravens in April 2023. His addition to the already-quality receiver room drew a lot of attention. But the question arises: Is he the answer to unlocking the best in quarterback Lamar Jackson? He sounds excited to have the former Giant in his team.
Jackson has already established a connection with the league’s best WR Justin Jefferson. However, OBJ brings experience and one-hand-catching luck that could come in handy for the Ravens if they want to stand a chance of besting other teams in the packed AFC.
Nevertheless, Odell Beckham Jr. has the opportunity that Antonio Brown never had: a second chance. If he can replicate a fraction of the first few years of his career in Baltimore, Ravens fans will worship him like Steve Smith Sr.
