Ohio State Football fans shout “We want Urban Meyer” after back to back losses under HC Ryan Day
Ohio State
Urban Meyer had an immaculate career as the HC for Ohio State where he led the team to their first-ever College Football national championship.
Therefore, there was a big leadership gap when Meyer stood down as the HC and Ryan Day took over. Meyer started his new job as a football analyst on the ‘Big Noon Saturday’ on Fox sports.
Co-incidentally, the former HC was analyzing the same game where Michigan State dominated the Buckeyes with a 45-23 statement win. The fans had enough of Ryan Day’s poor coaching and decided to chant “we want Urban, we want Urban”.
Ohio State suffered a second straight loss when they lost to Michigan State. This resulted in the fans getting frustrated and calling back their old HC Meyer.
The former Ohio State HC had a great tenure with the team as he led the Buckeye’s program to an 83-9 overall record from 2012 to 2018. The team also maintained a great record of 7-0 against Michigan State under the leadership of Meyer.
Ohio State has struggled with form after Urban Meyer’s departure
Urban Meyer had completely transformed the program at Ohio State and his departure came with a loss of form and consistency. The Ohio State’s current manager Ryan Day is 45-5 with the team including two CFP appearances and three AP top-10 finishes.
However, Day’s record against Michigan State is terrible as the team has allowed over 40 points to their arch-rivals in two consecutive seasons. His play-calling is also being questioned for that game where there were controversial calls, including the first-half decision to punt, which could have been done a bit differently.
Urban Meyer was loved by the fans and they are asking for him to come back after a poor showing by the team. Although Ryan Day has been performing poorly against Michigan State, his job is far from threatened as it is not yet known if Meyer would like to come back to coach the team.
Fans of Ohio State are tensed about the situation and don’t want this to turn out like former Buckeye coach John Cooper’s 2-10-1 against Michigan. John Day will have to guarantee Ohio State’s victory over the Michigan State next time they meet to avoid any conversation regarding another HC.
