Controversial former football player O.J. Simpson had an interesting take on Aaron Rodgers‘ recent injury. His new take comes after the New York Jets quarterback was carted off against the Buffalo Bills on Monday.

Simpson is no stranger when it comes to speaking his mind. One can easily track his hot takes on Twitter from time to time. The retired running back recently appeared on one of the segments of the popular YouTube podcast It is What It Is. He answered some questions regarding Aaron Rodgers and what the New York crowd expected of him after his unfortunate injury. The 76-year-old highlighted that the Big Apple’s misfortune was connected with the 11th of September.

“9/11 is just a bad date for New York,” Simpson said (the hosts can be seen laughing at his statement). Moreover, he emphasized that getting used to the program was important when a new player arrived. It meant having some playtime under his belt. “You gotta play. That’s the problem with not playing at all. It wasn’t a bad tackle. You gotta get your body loose, and you gotta get some contact. And I always thought it was a mistake not to play [Aaron Rodgers] at all in preseason.”

Fans were eager to see the Super Bowl winner in action. But they had to swallow their disappointment for three straight preseason games. Head coach Robert Saleh answered their call and promised to play the veteran quarterback in their final friendly. True to his words, Saleh gave Aaron Rodgers the nod, and he appeared against the New York Giants, but only for a few snaps. His NFL debut came against the Bills on the opening weekend, but on their fourth play, Buffalo defensive end Leonard Floyd tackled Rodgers, and the 39-year-old went down. Soon after, he was carted off for further examination.

As soon as Aaron Rodgers went down, every New Yorker started to fear the worst. Even Payton Manning was shocked to see one of his favorites for NFL MVP limp off the field. The preliminary examinations suggested that Rodgers hurt his ankle, but only an MRI could determine the result. A day later, the Jets announced that he would be out for the rest of the season because of a torn Achilles. OJ Simpson said that the rehab process would be challenging.

“I think it’s a big question as to whether he will be able to come back next year,” Simpson added. “Excuse my language, but it’s bit** doing rehab, it really is. And at that age, it’s really hard to do rehab and come back and not know whether you’re going to be 100%. So, I think it’s 50-50 that he may never play again.”

Zach Wilson took over from Aaron Rodgers on Monday. As per Robert Saleh, the 2021 second-overall pick will be QB1 until they find a solution. They will play the Dallas Cowboys in their second game, who just a day earlier destroyed the Giants 40-0, adding to Simpson’s 9/11 claim.
