Did the San Francisco 49ers listen to Mark Chmura‘s words because they have kept Jordan Love quiet even though the Green Bay Packers enjoyed most of the possession in the first half of the NFC Divisional playoff game? The Niners did not allow the Packers quarterback an inch, especially Deommodore Lenoir.

Before the game, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Love had come a long way in a short amount of time. Mainly for being such a great passer of the ball. Shanahan, along with defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, devised a plan to keep Love at bay in the game.

And he set Lenoir in Love’s tail, and it worked like a charm. The third-year cornerback stuck to him like glue throughout the first half. It was creating frustration in the Packers camp, and the tension almost boiled over midway through the second quarter.

Lenior pushed Love out of bounds right in front of the Green Bay Packers dugout. If fans had paid attention to the FOX Sports commentary, they would have heard that Lenoir went in late. The referee even threw a flag to signal an infringement.

What can one expect when teammates see their quarterback given no room to breathe the majority of the game and come out second-best following a challenge from an opposition player? Brawl, of course.

Lenoir had already had three hits on 49ers players before he threw Love into the Packers dugout. Clearly, he was enjoying himself with the added responsibility. Was he prepared to fight, though?

As Love was slowly getting his bearings, he saw Packers’ teammates ganging up on Lenoir. And like clockwork, the San Francisco 49ers players also barged into back up their corner. Unfortunately, the incident was limited to just verbal bickering rather than a hand-to-hand skirmish.

There was still a lot of time left to play in the game as they clicked towards the end of the half. Neither side was able to grab hold of the tie by the neck, besides Brock Purdy throwing a 32-yard touchdown pass to tight end George Kittle.

This is the two teams’ 10th meeting in the playoffs, the most in the NFL. For now, the 49ers have the edge over the Packers with five wins to Green Bay’s four.
