Each year, NFL fans eagerly anticipate the behind-the-scenes access provided by the popular HBO reality show Hard Knocks, which grants a glimpse into their favorite team’s locker room. This season, the NFL is taking its time to announce the featured team. However, there may have been an accidental reveal by Green Bay Packers President Mark Murphy, suggesting the team’s involvement in the show.

During a recent Q&A session on the Packers website, Mark Murphy discussed the possibility of the Packers appearing on Hard Knocks but didn’t provide much detail. However, he did mention the New York Jets and some of his former players who had joined the franchise.

While the potential inclusion of the New York Jets in Hard Knocks hasn’t been officially confirmed, if it were to happen, it could generate significant interest and intrigue. The offseason transfer of long-time Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the Jets would undoubtedly make for compelling viewing, as fans would be eager to see how the 39-year-old adjusts to life in the bustling metropolis of New York.

Additionally, the Jets’ roster boasts several former Packers players, such as Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, and Billy Turner, adding further connections between the two teams. Not to mention, they also onboarded Nathaniel Hackett, who was the offensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers until last season.

Mark Murphy’s revelation aside, when was the last time the Jets were part of Hard Knocks?

Fans eagerly anticipate the annual release of the Hard Knocks team, usually announced early or at least with a provisional list of expected candidates. However, this year has deviated from that trend. Since 2010, the longest the league has taken to reveal a team was in 2021, when the Dallas Cowboys‘ selection was announced on July 2nd. The only exception to this pattern was in 2011 when the NFL Player Lockout prevented any team from agreeing to participate in the program.

The Jets may be the next team to appear on Hard Knocks, but what are the criteria to be part of the show? Eligible teams for Hard Knocks are those that haven’t hired a new head coach, missed the playoffs in the last two seasons, and have not been featured on the show for the past decade.

The Jets last appeared on the show in 2010 with coach Rex Ryan, and his memorable line from the show, “Let’s go eat a snack!”, has remained etched in the memory of fans.

Despite Joy Taylor dismissing the Jets’ chances of reaching the playoffs, fans remain optimistic, especially with the addition of Aaron Rodgers. If the Jets are featured on Hard Knocks, it will provide a unique opportunity to witness how a Super Bowl winner like Rodgers creates his plays, offering fans an inside look into his game preparation and strategy.
