It’s almost the end of June, and Dalvin Cook still has not found a team to play for next season. However, Cook himself gave a possible hint of his next destination when he liked a tweet by Pat McAfee.

The Minnesota Vikings let go of the 27-year-old earlier this month. Since then, he has been linked to hoards of franchises looking for a quality running back. Being from Miami, the NFL Twitter was quick to connect Dalvin Cook to the Dolphins. A chance to play alongside Tyreek Hill and Tua Tagovailoa is a great opportunity. Both are young, dynamic and possess explosive qualities that Cook can guide. His experience captaining the Vikings will definitely be beneficial to the Miami squad.

Cook is also attracting interest from the New York Jets, who recently signed Aaron Rodgers. He recently liked a tweet from analyst Pat McAfee about a move to the Jets. McAfee seemed thrilled. “I don’t know if Dalvin Cook is starting a conversation or not, but him to the Jet would be hilarious. I’m sure Aaron Rodgers would be pumped.”

However, they have a fully stacked RB with Michael Carter, Zonovan Knight, and 2022’s 36th-round Draft pick, Breece Hall. Will General Manager Joe Douglas even go for Cook? That is a question in itself. While starting for the Jets, Cook can take over the mentor’s role for Hall. This will also free up Randall Cobb to make some dynamic rushes.

Can the New York Jets afford Dalvin Cook?

Dalvin Cook is an experienced campaigner who will be entering his seventh year in the NFL. He will command a decent chunk from whichever franchise he wishes to join. If we go by what analyst Tom Pelissero said on the Rich Eisen Show, “Dalvin Cook is not coming in for $4 to $5 million.”

This means the four-time pro bowler is looking for a significant raise. He could ask for in the region $10 million, which cuts out a large number of franchises. If Dalvin Cook manages to get something close to the sum, then he would earn similar amounts to Saquon Barkley of the New York Giants and Josh Jacobs of the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Jets would have to play hardball, but they do have the money to sign the Miami native. According to Sportac, the Jets have a salary cap of $21,374,057. They could go in for Cook. If that were to happen, would the Jets also try to sign DeAndre Hopkins? That would be amazing, as Dalvin Cook wants to play with D-Hop.
