The veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers‘ much-anticipated New York Jets debut came to an early end after he suffered an unfortunate leg injury during the first quarter of their week 1 matchup against the Buffalo Bills on Monday. Rodgers is ruled out for the remainder of the 2023 season with a torn Achilles. Amidst this situation, ESPN personality Pat McAfee has shared an update on Rodgers’ situation.

“I haven’t talked to him since the injury, but I’ve talked to people in his very tight circle,” McAfee said on Tuesday in an appearance on the ESPN show First Take with Stephen A. Smith and Shannon Sharpe. “The way he is, is just as devastated as all of us obviously.”

Furthermore, Pat McAfee one of Rodgers’ best friends went on to claim that this is the best shape Rodgers has been in and the most energized he has been in, in a long time.

“The amount he invested into this season, you heard Alex Smith talk about it last night on Monday Night Countdown because he’s been friends with him for so long,” McAfee continued. “This is the best shape he’s been in, the most energized he’s been, he felt like he had real. . . I don’t want to say sway or influence but actual say with what was going on in the New York Jets organization which was something that he yearned for a long time”

Rodgers suffered a leg injury in the first quarter while trying to avoid a sack. Later, an MRI scan revealed that the veteran QB has torn his Achilles and is ruled out for the remainder of the ongoing season. Many people speculate Rodgers will retire following the season-ending injury but McAfee believes the Jets QB will come back for one more season.

Pat McAfee also said Rodgers has done a lot to just end his career in this way. He believes the 39-year-old will take time to heal and come back to play for the New York-based football team in the 2024 season.

Despite the season-ending injury, Aaron Rodgers is expected to stay with the Jets and mentor Zach Wilson, who is expected to replace the veteran as the starting QB for the rest of the season.

The Jets’ head coach Robert Saleh believes his team can still compete for the Super Bowl under the young quarterback. However, the Jets fans are not optimistic about their chances of winning the title without Rodgers under center.

Nonetheless, the Jets will now be focused on securing a victory against the Dallas Cowboys, who they are scheduled to face in week 2 of the 2023 regular season. It will be a test for the Jets team, who will be playing without their star quarterback.
