The relation between the top brass of ESPN and Pat McAfee seems to be souring by the day. The unorthodox sports media personality has taken yet another jibe at the top executives of the network after his recent comments on All the Smoke podcast. He targeted Norby Williamson, an executive who he believes does not like him.

This time, Pat McAfee said,

I report directly to Jimmy (Pitaro) and Bob (Iger). I saw 'Pat calls out his boss. I don't got a motherf***king boss. What are we...? We talking Jimmy Pitaro or Bob Iger?

Pat McAfee made it clear that he is obligated to report to either the President of ESPN Jimmy Pitaro or the CEO of Disney Bob Iger. Apart from those two, he is not required to report to anybody else and nobody else “could technically be described as” his boss. His dispute with Williamson has not been a secret.

Pat McAfee and Norby Williamson have clashed in the past

Pat McAfee has called Williamson out without explicitly naming him by claiming “That guy was not a fan of me or our operation for a long time.” When ESPN signed him to a massive contract, some of the people in the building were not particularly welcoming of him. Especially given the fact that he was set to replace SportsCenter at noon.

Things got heated after Aaron Rodgers‘ controversial comments on Jimmy Kimmel that were made on Pat’s show. It put ESPN in a tough position as the network provided the platform for this to occur. He regretted the fact that Jimmy Pitaro and Burke Magnus, the president of the content at ESPN, got caught in this crossfire.

I genuinely did not expect it to get as big as it did because I didn't think I said anything that was like that crazy. You know what I mean?...Like if I really wanted to saw a motherf**ker down, I thought I could have done it in a much bigger way...I was actually pretty proud of myself.

The former NFL punter has made waves in the business with his show. It challenges the orthodox format of sports talk shows and that is one of the bigger reasons that executives who have been doing this for decades feel threatened by him.
