In the podcast, Pat starts off by highlighting his own draft night experiences, playing for coach Saban at OSU, and mentioning some of the hardest receivers to guard in his draft class.

“This will be his breakout year”: Patrick Surtain on Jerry Jeudy

It was natural that the topic of Russell Wilson and the rejuvenated offense of the Broncos would come up. Pat was asked about the Broncos’ top WR Jerry Jeudy and their battles in practice. He had this to say about the receiver, “I could tell you one thing, I once Jeudy gets going I could see him as a top-three receiver, no doubt.”

Now that is some serious praise coming from the skilled corner. Jerry Jeudy was dubbed to be the best route runner in his entire draft class, even Hall of Fame TE Shannon Sharpe had high praise for Jeudy’s route-running skills. Jeudy, unfortunately, faced an abrupt end to the last season due to an injury that he sustained in a game against the Giants.

Patrick Surtain II went on to say that “I shall look forward to him having a dynamic year.” He described their battles during practice as something that helped both of them fine-tune their skills and that this will be Jeudy’s “breakout year.”

With the addition of Russell Wilson, the Denver Broncos have a well-balanced offensive. On the defensive side, the team has amazing players as well. This can in all likelihood be an amazing year for a WR as skilled as Jeudy provided he can stay healthy. It is to be seen how the chemistry between Jeudy and Wilson fares out against the top defenses in the league.
