Patrick Mahomes is en route to accomplishing the impossible. The quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs has managed to enter the GOAT debate within six years of playing in the NFL. His record of three Super Bowl rings along with MVP honors in each of those games has begun to make fans of Tom Brady anxious.

When Brady retired, his record of 7 Super Bowl wins was considered to be a feat that would be impossible to recreate, but now, the notion has changed and Mahomes seems to be the one destined to tally or beat his record.

Mahomes has already moved up to third on the list of players with most career playoff wins in NFL history. With his third Super Bowl victory, he overtook Peyton Manning, John Elway, and Terry Bradshaw, who each had 14 wins in their career. Mahomes now has 15 wins and is ranked third on the list. He is just one more playoff victory short of matching Joe Montana who ranks second with 16 playoff wins.

In all likelihood, the quarterback will overtake Montana next season. But there is one name on the list whom he will really need to work hard to reach up to. It is none other than Tom Brady. TB12 has more than double the number of playoff wins Mahomes has at present. With 35 total playoff victories, Brady is still significantly ahead of Patrick Mahomes.

Mahomes’ resume has been impeccable. He does not seem human as he makes going to the Super Bowl look easy, there is no doubt that the Chiefs are now a dynasty after having been to four championship games and having won three of them. The team is not done as they are likely to bring back most of their starters and focus on adding more pieces on offense to create more threats.

Despite his achievements, the young QB continues to be dismissed from the GOAT conversation. It could be due to the fact that he does pose a serious threat to the legacy of iconic players. Here’s how fans reacted to Mahomes overtaking Peyton Manning after his most recent Super Bowl win.

That is true but Patrick Mahomes is beginning to make it seem possible to beat Tom Brady’s record and that alone says a lot about his potential as a player.

Fortunately or unfortunately, yes. Joe Burrow is the only one who can restore the balance in the NFL universe as he remains the rare few who have a dominant record against Patrick Mahomes.

When it’s all said and done, will Mahomes have surpassed Brady? Right now, he has a future hall of fame head coach and tight end alongside him. He is in the right system and environment, but if, down the road, they are no longer with him, will he then be able to perform at this level? This is the bigger question.
