The reigning league MVP Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are currently preparing for their week 3 matchup against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Mahomes and the Chiefs are looking to register a dominant victory against the deflated Bears. Ahead of the game, Mahomes did an interview with the New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter for Fox Network’s pregame show.
As a part of the interview, Mahomes brought out an old picture of him signed by the Yankees legend himself. Mahomes brought out an old picture signed by Derek Jeter of him, as a kid, meeting the New York icon. Kid Mahomes was seen wearing a Texas Rangers hit as his dad, Patrick Mahomes Sr., was playing for the Rangers back in 2001. At the same time, Jeter was playing as a shortstop for the New York-based MLB franchise.
Papa Mahomes used to play as a pitcher in Major League Baseball. That means the Chiefs quarterback Patrick had access to MLB’s locker rooms and possibly met many baseball players and one among them is Derek Jeter.
In fact, like his dad, Mahomes himself used to be a baseball growing up. He was a pitcher during his high school days and was even drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 37th round of the 2014 MLB Draft. Thanks to his pitching experience, Mahomes developed a unique rotating motion which has led to him having a successful NFL career so far.
Derek Jeter is a New York Yankees legend. He had a successful career in the league, in which he won 5 World Series championship rings. Mahomes is also off to a great start in his NFL career. Mahomes has won 2 Super Bowl rings in his 5 years as the starting QB of the Kansas City-based football team.
