Patrick Mahomes had a season for the history books last year. The 27-year-old QB won his second Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs and has started a possible dynasty with the team that could go on for pretty long.
Mahomes has proven to be the best current QB in the NFL by a long mile and has witnessed no direct competition. Although he continues to carve out a legendary NFL career, the Chiefs QB was recently bereaved by the passing of his grandmother.
Debbie Bates, the mother of Randi Mahomes, was in delicate health for the past few weeks and was battling with life every day. Time eventually won, and Mahomes’ grandmother breathed her last breath.
The news was broken by a family friend through her Facebook account. “My best friend Randi Mahomes lost her best of best friends yesterday…. Her sweet mom. The one who showed up for everyone every time. The person more like her than anyone,” Teresa Jane stated on Twitter.
“The person who loved her no matter what… please keep her in your prayers and know her messages and phone has literally blown up with love but she just can’t reply yet.”
It is reported that Debbie was Patrick Mahomes’ number-one fan during his college days and always supported her grandson no matter what. Always showering her grandson with love and support, she has played an instrumental role in the QB’s success. Her memorial service is set to be held on Monday in Henderson, Texas.

Currently, Patrick Mahomes will be in a precarious and heartbroken condition where he will be overcoming the pain of the death of his grandmother. The Chiefs QB was currently enjoying his offseason, but the festivities will have to be cut short.
However, he also looks forward to the next season and the preseason, which is getting closer each day. The Chiefs are still the powerhouse team of the NFL and will look to maintain their dominance.
Still, the teams like the Cincinnati Bengals and the Philadelphia Eagles will be looking to challenge their dominance and lay their hands on the iconic Lombardi Trophy. The Chiefs seriously need to sign a quality WR to counter that problem. Last season, they won without a quality WR, but they won’t make the same bet this year.
With the draft just around the corner, it will be interesting to see which player do the Chiefs acquire to support Patrick Mahomes in the quest for another Super Bowl.
