Chris Jones is currently one of the top defensive players in the league. The star defensive tackle played a huge role in the Kansas City Chiefs winning 2 Super Bowls in the last 4 years. But now, it seems like Jones’ future is uncertain in Kansas City. Jones, who is entering the final year of the contract, is allegedly having issues with contract extension talks with the Chiefs.

The Chiefs defensive tackle missed both voluntary organized team activities and missed days 1 and 2 of this week’s mandatory minicamp. Losing the 4-time Pro Bowl DT would be a massive blow for the Chiefs franchise, but the head coach Andy Reid, and QB Patrick Mahomes are not worried about it.

“It’s part of the business,” said Mahomes on Thursday. “Chris knows that we love him here. He’s been a part of this team for a long time. He’s one of the main reasons that we’ve had the success that we’ve had; he’s been that leader on the defense.”

Mahomes is hopeful that “everything’s good by training camp” and Chris Jones would be able to join them on their 2023 campaign to defend their crown. The Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid is also not worried by the All-Pro defensive lineman’s absence. Reid is sure that Jones will resolve his issues and join the Chiefs during the training camp.

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles back in February to claim their third Super Bowl title in the franchise’s history. On Thursday, the Chiefs’ players, coaches, and staff received the coveted jewelry in a private ceremony in Kansas City.

The Chiefs’ star QB Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce and many other players and coaches attended the ceremony to receive their rings. When the Chiefs won their second title in 2019, they couldn’t hold a grand ceremony to celebrate their victory due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Chiefs had to conduct a socially distanced ceremony at Arrowhead Stadium to give out the rings. But now, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce got to experience the grand celebration for the first time.

This ring presentation ceremony would give them more motivation to defend their Super Bowl title in the upcoming season. The 2-time league MVP Mahomes-led Chiefs would look to become the 1st team to win back-to-back rings since Tom Brady-led New England Patriots did it back in 2003 and 2004.
