Ahead of the Super Bowl LVIII game against the San Francisco 49ers, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes found himself in a new crisis. A few days back, his father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., was arrested by the police under the DWI charges. A thing that is not very unfamiliar to him.

The quarterback was asked about the condition of his father this Monday on the opening night of the Super Bowl. The QB, however, decided to stay mum as this is a legal issue.

Mahomes noted

His words reflected his focus on the Super Bowl and he does not want to get distracted with other things. However, this is not the first time Mahomes’ father got arrested for DWI. It started in 2018. Mahomes Sr. was arrested twice under the charge of DWI in the year. Next year, he served 40 days in prison for getting arrested for DWI. He was in the prison on the weekends from 2019 to 2020. If he gets convicted, the QB’s father can be jailed for two to ten years this time.

Amidst family troubles, Patrick Mahomes eying his third Super Bowl trophy

Mahomes’ father was arrested under DWI Charges in both 2018 and 2019. In both years, Mahomes played for the Chiefs. He made his debut in the 2017-18 season and since then hasn’t looked back. The team ended their playoff drought the next season and marched on to the AFC Championship where they lost. Mahomes, in his first season as a starter, performed like a new-found star for the Chiefs and grabbed his first career MVP Award.

In the 19-20 season, Mahomes delivered a Super Bowl-winning season for Kansas City. They beat the Niners in the Super Bowl LIV game and Mahomes had a pivotal MVP performance in the game.

It can be said that Mahomes does not get distracted from his goal even when he faces personal troubles. Going into the big game on February 11, Mahomes has a 14-3 record so far in the postseason, which might be a case of concern for the team from San Francisco.
