Sunday, February 11, was a historic night. Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to another Super Bowl win after a nail-biting 25-22 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. This was the Chiefs’ second Lombardi Trophy this decade and their third in five years, reigniting the comparisons between Mahomes and Tom Brady.
In that time, only Brady has managed to beat the Chiefs quarterback. The 28-year-old’s late flurry in the game that went to overtime handed the Chiefs a jaw-dropping win. He finished the game with a whopping 399 all-purpose yards. 333 yards through the air and 66 with his feet (second-best by a quarterback in the history of the Super Bowl).

Furthermore, he tossed two touchdown passes and one interception. His big brainplay in the dying embers of the OT made all the difference. With three seconds left on the clock, Mahomes found Mecole Hardman Jr. clean through to the end zone to clinch the win.
As a result, Mahomes bagged his third Super Bowl MVP, which, of course, brought back Brady comparisons. During the post-game chat on the NFL Game Day desk, the Chiefs QB tried his best to answer the question.
To me, it’s always going to be tough because Brady beat me in the Super Bowl.
Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady in numbers
Brady won three Super Bowls by the age of 26, whereas Mahomes took two extra years to achieve the same feat. The ex-New England Patriots quarterback was quicker to his first three and did that without losing a single final, unlike Mahomes. That defeat came at the hands of the 46-year-old when he was playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

However, when it comes to head-to-head in the playoffs and Super Bowls, Patrick Mahomes leads Brady in almost every category. After 106 games, he has more wins, passing yards, passing touchdowns, rushing yards, and fewer interceptions compared to Brady. Even in passer rating, Mahomes outshines his predecessor, with Brady recording 88.4, whereas Mahomes boasts a rating of 103.5. Of course, by the time he retires, it will go down eventually.
Mahomes added:
I mean, I’m not even close to halfway, so I haven’t put a lot of thought into it; if you ask me that question in 15 years, I’ll see if I can get close to seven. But seven seems like a long way away still.
One thing that Brady had going for him was his longevity. He played in the NFL until the age of 45. As Mahomes said, he needs to play at least 15 more years to get close to or cross Tom Brady. One thing is for certain: the Chiefs QB has every possibility of becoming the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) in the future.
