The Kansas City Chiefs starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Cincinnati Bengals star Joe Burrow share one of the most intense rivalries in the NFL. But it’s only an on-field rivalry. Both talented players share the utmost respect for each other off-the-football field. And now, recently, Mahomes showed his respect to Burrow by calling him a stone-cold killer.

“He’s like a stone-cold killer, man. It doesn’t matter who he’s playing, he expects to win. People say that, but until you see people that have that mentality, then you really know,” Mahomes said of Burrow in the NFL’s video of Top 100 Players of 2023. “He’ll have that team ready to win football games every year. Even though we beat them last time, they’re still 3–1 against us.”

The Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes made those comments on NFL’s Top 100 players list. Joe Burrow, who finished 4th in MVP voting last season, was ranked 6th best player in the league behind the likes of Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Jalen Hurts. In the video, players who voted on this list shared their opinions about the ranked players.

Apart from Mahomes, the Chiefs’ defensive tackle Chris Jones also made some highly appreciative comments about the Bengals quarterback. “You can talk stuff to Joe all day. He’ll laugh it off, give you the smirk, and then dime you up,” said Jones.

The last time the Chiefs and the Bengals faced was in the AFC Championship game earlier this year. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs secured the victory and knocked out Burrow and the Bengals from Super Bowl contention. Still, Burrow holds a dominant record of 3 wins and 1 loss against the Chiefs. They will both face each other again in week 17 of the 2023 regular season.

The Bengals Joe Burrow is due for an MVP season

Joe Burrow has been a massive force in the NFL ever since he entered the league back in 2020 as the first overall pick. He has already won 1 Comeback Player of the Year award but now it’s time for him to take home some more hardware.

The Pro Bowl quarterback will be looking to win the prestigious MVP award in the upcoming season. Burrow recently suffered an injury and was carted off the field during the Bengals’ training camp.

However, it was only a calf injury. The Bengals wideout Ja’Marr Chase wants Burrow to fully heal before stepping onto the field. But as of right now, Burrow is not expected to miss even a game.

If Burrow played the entire 2023 season without missing a game, he has a shot at taking home the MVP award. But, if he ended up missing some games, it would be tough for him to even compete for the MVP honor.
