The NFL 2023-24 is aging and the teams are shaping into their true forms. Few teams have already portrayed themselves as favorites. One of them is the San Francisco 49ers who are unbeaten in the league as they won five consecutive games. Brock Purdy, their quarterback, is in his best form and creating ripples on the turf. He is already being considered the favorite to win the MVP award this year.

Last year, it was Patrick Mahomes who won the award. Mahomes is not in his usual form and some analysts believe that this is going to be the year for Purdy and not Mahomes.

However, not everyone seems to have the same opinion. Nick Wright is one of them. A hardcore admirer of Mahomes, Wright believes that Mahomes is still the favorite to win the MVP despite Purdy’s brilliant performance till now.

There is hardly any doubt for the NFL enthusiasts that Wright is a fan of Mahomes’ way of playing football. He always gives his flowers to Mahomes and keeps faith in him.

From the sets of First Things First, the analyst said, “Brock Purdy hasn’t been the MVP of his team so I can’t have him be league MVP– Patrick Mahomes isn’t going to need to be head and shoulders numerically better than everybody. The narrative has been set that he’s working with a weapons disadvantage.”

If the enthusiasts go by QB ratings then Purdy is having the lead over Mahomes. He is presently the best among all QBs this season. Mahomes is trailing behind him and currently standing in the fourth position after week 5.

Mahomes vs Purdy: who has been more effective so far in 2023?

Brock Purdy is presently the number one QB this season. He has covered 1,271 yards of passing in five games. The QB completed 98 of his 136 passes and is presently having a passing completion rate of 72.1%. The player registered 9 touchdowns in five games and has not been intercepted a single time. With a QBR of 83.6, he is standing at number one.

Mahomes, on the other hand, covered 1,287 yards of passing. The QB completed 49 of his 71 passes. He registered 10 touchdowns but has been intercepted four times this season. With a QBR of 73, he is presently standing at 4th. Despite covering more yards and registering more touchdowns, Purdy is having the edge because of the interceptions column.
