Scary scenes at the Arrowhead Stadium as the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes went down with a serious ankle injury during their all-important playoff game against the Trevor Lawrence-led Jacksonville Jaguars.

During the final minutes of the first quarter of the game, Jaguars DT Corey Peters and LB Arden Key combined for a sack on the Chiefs franchise QB, Mahomes. Following the sack, the 6th-year quarterback started limping on the field due to injury and the Chiefs head coach, Andy Reid, called a timeout to evaluate the seriousness of the injury.

However, the Chiefs QB stayed in the game and complete a pass on one leg towards the end of the first quarter. The athletic trainers tapped the All-Pro quarterback’s ankles as he continued to play through the second quarter. But it was obvious that he was playing through an injury that was bothering him and limiting his potential to make big plays.

Mahomes completed that drive that ended up in a field goal kick by Harrison Butker. And then when the Jaguars took over for their possession, Mahomes was sent to the locker room for further evaluation of his injury.

Patrick Mahomes did not react well to Andy Reid, sending him inside the locker room following his injury. The MVP frontrunner was visibly upset about the decision as he flipped off his jacket and stormed inside the tunnel, heading to the locker room.

Furthermore, the former Texas Tech product was caught on the sidelines pleading to his coach and assuring him that he was okay with continuing the game. “Do not take me out,” Mahomes appeared to tell his coach. “I’m good, I’m good.”

Mahomes eventually came back to the game but was still not 100%. He somehow managed to make first downs after first downs and even threw for a touchdown with an ankle injury. The Kansas-based franchise ended up winning the game 27-20 but the severity of the injury the Mahomes suffered in this game will decide the course of the Chiefs’ postseason run this season.

Andy Reid and his team will now wait for the result of the second AFC divisional game between the Joe Burrow-led Cincinnati Bengals and the Josh Allen led-Buffalo Bills on Sunday to know about their next opponent in the 3rd round of the NFL playoffs
