The Kansas City Chiefs played their week 1 game against the upstart Detroit Lions. It was the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era that the Chiefs lost their week 1 matchup. Mahomes did not have his no.1 target Travis Kelce in that game and that was a major reason for the Chiefs’ loss. The Chiefs receivers dropped a lot of easy passes during the game and that cost them big time.

The Chiefs have their TE back for the second game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Early in the first quarter of that game Mahomes, on a third and short faced a lot of pressure from the Jaguars’ defense. In an attempt to avoid a sack, Mahomes threw the ball to left tackle Donovan Smith. The big lineman caught the ball but was an illegal receiver on that play and the Chiefs were penalized for that.

Fans on Twitter were quick to roast Mohomes for his not-so-smart play after illegally throwing the ball to his lineman. Some fans insinuated that Mahomes is sick of his receivers already after a poor week 1 performance. Smith stood on the ground after catching the pass as he wasn’t a legal receiver on that play. Everyone saw the funny side of it.

After a tough opening game loss, the Chiefs will hope to bounce back against the Jaguars. The defending champions are prime contenders to defend their Super Bowl title. They will have to get in that winning grove as soon as possible and Mahomes and Chiefs will hope it starts against the Jags.

Patrick Mahomes’ primary target Travis Kelce back for the game against the Jaguars

Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes have terrorized the league since Mahomes’ rookie season. They have been one of the most formidable duos in the league and have won two Super Bowls together. Kelce suffered a right knee injury during the preseason and missed the Chiefs’ season opener against the Detroit Lions.

With Kelce out, Mahomes and the Chiefs offense struggled against a very good Lions side, and that resulted in the first week 1 loss of Mahomes’ career. Kelce is now back against the Jacksonville Jaguars and that is a major boost for the Mahomes and the Chiefs.

The Jags and the Chiefs are both expected to make a deep playoff run. The Chiefs are coming off a tough loss and they would want to get back to winning ways as quickly as possible. It will be a tough test for the Chiefs but with Kelce and Chris Jones back, they will be at full strength and would be favored to win the game.
