The Kansas City Chiefs have struggled offensively all season. Dropping the most number of passes in the league this season hasn’t helped them further their cause as last season’s Super Bowl winners. Enter Rashee Rice.

The rookie is arguably the one bright light for the Chiefs in the front lines, and he did not disappoint against the Miami Dolphins in the Wild Card at Arrowhead on Saturday night. Despite the cold, snowy weather of the midwest, Rice looked hot as ever.

He was the best receiver besides the former Chief Tyreek Hill. The second-rounder out of SMU caught eight passes for 130 yards and one touchdown to secure a 26-7 win over the Dolphins.

While there’s still a long way for him to go before being compared to someone like Hill, he is already making massive strides toward that. His 130 receiving yards were the most by any first-year receiver in a playoff game.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who has always been a vocal supporter of Rice, revealed that he knew the young wide receiver would be a great find for the Chiefs. Why? Here’s what he had to say in the post-match press conference:

He went to high school in Texas, so I knew he was going to be a dog.
Mahomes spoke to NBC during the live broadcast following the game.

Rashee Rice has been exceptional for the Kansas City Chiefs

It was the second consecutive game that Rice had recorded 100 receiving yards. In the Bengals game, he had five receptions for 127 yards, which included a 67-yard dart from Mahomes.

Rice went to North Richland High School in Texas, where he was a three-star recruit. During his junior year in the program, he had 1,386 yards and 19 TDs, leading the Royals to the 5A Division II regional finals.

In his senior year at SMU, he bagged an All-American title after 96 catches for 1355 yards and 10 touchdowns. It was enough for the Chiefs to snap him up in the 2023 NFL draft. And the 6-foot-1 receiver has convinced Patrick Mahomes that he is special.

(Rice) continued to work every single day. A lot of young players, man, they want to take it off; they have long seasons compared to what they did in college, but he continued to get better and better and asked the right questions.

The two-time Super Bowl winner is from East Texas and played for Texas Tech. During his junior year, he set a program record for single-game passing (734) and ingle-game yards total offense against Oklahoma in October 2016. The 28-year-old made his way into the Second Team All-Big 12. He finished that year with 388 completions for 5052 yards and 41 touchdowns.
