What recently happened in Texas is gut-wrenching, heartbreaking, and downright horrific. An 18-year-old gunman, identified as Salvador Ramos went beyond all limits and opened fire in an elementary school, which in turn resulted in 18 children and 3 adults losing their life.
A lot of people across the world, including the likes of Patrick Mahomes and DeMarcus Lawrence, were left shellshocked by what transpired. The NFL stars took to Twitter to express grief.
“Prayers to all the families in Texas”: Patrick Mahomes
Salvador Ramos, who killed his own grandmother before executing this atrocious crime, was wearing body armor, and he crashed his car outside the school before going inside, Sgt. Erick Estrada of the Texas Department of Public Safety told CNN. He was reportedly armed with a handgun, an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle, and high-capacity ammunition magazines.
Talking about the incident, Mahomes took to Twitter and wrote, “Has to stop man…… prayers to all the families in Texas.” DeMarcus also took to Twitter to call out the gun laws that have resulted in many innocent individuals losing their lives.
“Waiting on gun laws and other tactics have resulted in way too much bloodshed. When it involves Children’s lives we cannot wait. The time is now,” he added.
This in fact the deadliest shooting at a US grade school since a gunman killed 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, almost a decade ago. This has to stop, the authorities need to act quickly to make sure parents can gather the courage to send their children to school.
