There’s a common saying, ‘Never meet your idols’, but if someday the chance does arrive, try to get small memorabilia. However, that wasn’t the case during the American Century Championship, where Superstar Patrick Mahomes was asked for an autograph by a young fan, but the quarterback declined.

The two-time Super Bowl winner did not have any choice but to refuse the fan who asked for his autograph. “They told me I can’t do it anymore; I was taking too long,” Mahomes gave his explanation to the present fans at the event, FOX News reported.

Despite all of that, one of the young fan’s father nudged Mahomes nonetheless: “Mr. Mahomes, will you sign my jersey when you’re done?” The quarterback could be heard saying, “I can’t sign for everyone.” But the father did not give up easily. “Yeah, you can; you can just make one kid happy out of a hundred.” This exchange was surely an awkward one for the famed QB and his fans. Mahomes was however calm throughout this unpleasant conversation.

Mahomes has been a regular at the golf event for a few years now. The Kansas City Chiefs player has a keen interest in golf, besides football. He is also the proud father of two children, Sterling (daughter) and Bronze (son), with his wife Brittany (Matthews) Mahomes. Naturally, he knows what a parent can do to fulfill their little one’s every need.

In the Netflix NFL series “Quarterback,” Mahomes can be seen spending some quality time with his kids and showcasing his parenting skills. He once revealed to Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, who is also the producer of the show, that he wanted to be part of the show in order to tell his two babies in the future what their father does.

Now that the golf event in which Mahomes and the other participants threw a few hoops is over, he is focusing on adding another Super Bowl ring to his medal cabinet despite ankle injury woes. The Texas native has been arguably the best player in the NFL for the past five seasons. Under the leadership of coach Andy Reid, Mahomes managed to reach the Championship game three times, winning it twice. But this won’t be the year they complete the 3-peat.

“Everybody’s motivated by that,” Mahomes said while attending the first training session earlier this week. “When you go through the offseason that I’ve been through, you want to do it again.” Mahomes declared that he and the team are always finding ways to improve every week.

Last season, the Kansas City Chiefs reached the Super Bowl final, where they defeated the Philadelphia Eagles.
