Ahead of the Super Bowl showdown against the San Francisco 49ers, the Kansas City Chiefs have now suffered a major blow. The Chiefs’ defensive end Charles Omenihu was subjected to a major ACL injury. As per reports, the defensive end tore his ACL and has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Though the Chiefs have only one game to go, this would surely ruin Omenihu’s postseason mood.

Following his injury update, the defensive end shared Jeremiah 30:17 verse. Uploading a picture of the same, Charles Omenihu wrote:

Thank you all for the support. God makes no mistakes. We were all a witness to my adversity earlier this year, and I came back better than ever. I promise it will be no different this time. Football, 90 will see you again till then much love to everyone and God bless.

This injury might prove to be detrimental to the Kansas City Chiefs. This season, they have mostly relied on the defense. Unlike other seasons, the offense hasn’t been at the peak of its powers. It was the defense that kept their hope for the playoffs afloat. Even in the postseason, the defense lived up to the expectations. They kept the likes of Josh Allen, Tyreek Hill, Tua Tagovailoa, and Lamar Jackson quiet. It is also worth noting that the defense did not allow anyone to score more than 30 points this season.

It is to be seen, how the team performs without the defensive end in the Super Bowl. The Niners offense will start with an advantage.

Charles Omenihu aside, the Chiefs have another injury ‘controversy

Ahead of the Super Bowl fight, controversies are hotting up in the Chiefs camp. A new tussle has emerged between the team’s wide receiver Kadarius Toney and the head coach Andy Reid. It came up regarding an injury of the receiver.

An account associated with Toney made an Instagram live where a person claimed that the injury concern of the player was made up. Toney has not played since Week 15. He was ruled out of the Divisional Round game due to an ankle and hip injury and some personal reasons.

Since the claim has emerged that the injury was fake, the Chiefs HC Reid came and clarified the case. In front of the press, the HC added:

I actually haven't seen it. I've heard people talk about it. Yeah, he'll be back out there and we'll see how he does. Obviously he's been on the injury report, so that part is not made up by any means. But he's been working through some things and he'll be back out there.
Andy Reid told the reporters

Barring injury concerns, the Chiefs will be looking forward to their star man Patrick Mahomes to come up with the goods on the day of reckoning.
