Kansas City Chiefs have finally managed to get hold of their third Lombardi Trophy! With a crucial (and controversial) penalty going in the Chiefs’ favor in the last minutes, the AFC champions defeated their NFC counterpart, Philadelphia Eagles, by the final score of 38-35.

The Super Bowl LVII victory for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs was a historic moment for the 27-year-old quarterback. With this win, Mahomes broke the 24-year-old curse that had plagued MVP winners in the past. He became the 11th player to win the Super Bowl and league MVP in the same season. A feat that not even the likes of Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers, the league faces for more than two decades, have been able to achieve.

Mahomes is the first to do so during the 21st century. Kurt Warner was the last MVP winner to win the Super Bowl in the same season back in 1999. Although this is not the only honor the Texas Tech product was able to bag in his kitty.

Of the 11 players who have won both the regular season MVP and the Super Bowl, only four were not named Super Bowl MVP for their respective games – Mark Moseley, Lawrence Taylor, Brett Favre, and Terrell Davis missed out on this double honor. And Mahomes, after his stellar performance in the Super Bowl, is one of those rare few who were able to grab that double honor.

Mahomes’ performance in the Super Bowl was nothing short of spectacular. He threw for three touchdowns and managed to pass for over 182 yards even after suffering yet another injury during the game. Mahomes had played through the injury in the AFC Championship game as well. His ability to extend plays with his feet and make quick decisions under pressure was on full display in the big game, fetching him the Super Bowl MVP title.

Mahomes’ accuracy and arm strength have been a major factor in his success. He can make throws that few other quarterbacks in the league are capable of making, and his ability to keep plays alive has been a game-changer for the Chiefs.

One of the biggest things that set Mahomes apart from other quarterbacks is his competitiveness. He wants to win every game and will do whatever it takes to get the victory. Even if that means risking your career and playing through an injury-ridden ankle, as evident in the Super Bowl and the AFC championship game this season.

Mahomes’ win in the Super Bowl also highlights the importance of having a strong supporting cast. The Chiefs have one of the best offenses in the league, and the contributions of players like Isiah Pacheco, Travis Kelce, and JuJu Smith-Schuster cannot be understated.

Nonetheless, Patrick Mahomes’ Super Bowl LVII victory is a testament to his talent and hard work. He has broken the MVP curse and proven that he is one of the best quarterbacks in the league. With his competitiveness, leadership, and incredible talent, there is no doubt that he will continue to have a great impact on the NFL for years to come.
