Last Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes managed to defeat the Buffalo Bills in their divisional round game. Following the massive victory, the Chiefs quarterback delivered a fiery post-game interview mocking the Bills.
In the locker speech started by head coach Andy Reid telling his team how proud he is, Mahomes mocked the Bills after defeating them in a road playoff game.
They asked for it! And they got what they asked for! But [Andy Reid] said it! This ain't done. We come back next week ready to go.Patrick Mahomes said in a fiery speech
Mahomes was possibly referring to pre-game trash talks from Dion Dawkins. In a pre-game interview with ESPN the Bills offensive lineman said the Chiefs hadn’t played in a fully-crowded Bills stadium and the home crowd would be an advantage to the Buffalo-based organization.
The environment will be different, and not to say it’s in our favor, but stadium is our favor. Stadium is us. That helps us. I don’t care what nobody says. This is the most dopest feeling I’ve ever had. We’re having two back-to-back playoff games home.Dion Dawkins said via ESPN
Apart from Dawkins’ statement, there was a lot of emphasis on the Chiefs playing the Bills in a road game. Many believed the Buffalo crowd could break Mahomes and the Chiefs and help Josh Allen’s Bills finally win a playoff game against the Patrick Mahomes-led Chiefs. However, that didn’t happen on Sunday and the Bills were knocked off of the postseason by the Kansas City-based football team.
Patrick Mahomes’ opened up about playing in road playoff games
The Chiefs entered their divisional round game against the Bills as road underdogs but ended up leaving the Highmark Stadium with a victory in a close game.
After breaking the hearts of Buffalo fans, the Chiefs’ 2-time All-Pro quarterback Patrick Mahomes opened up about playing in the road playoff game during the post-game press conference.
When you're on the road, it's you versus them, it's you versus everybody in the stadium, and you have to come together as a team, and the guys do that. You saw that in the game today.Patrick Mahomes said in the post-game presser
Nonetheless, the Chiefs will now turn their focus to the Baltimore Ravens, who they are scheduled to face next in the AFC Championship game for the right to play in the Super Bowl.
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will be playing in their 6th straight AFC game this weekend, but for the first time, they will be playing in a road conference championship game. The exciting playoff matchup between two top teams in the league has created a lot of buzz among NFL fans.
